I'm going
to start off by saying that I'm not the best at creating 3D games. In
fact, I never have created one. But this tool introduced me to how 3D
games work and how they are produced. So what's so good about 3D Gamestudio?
It's a lot easier than learning C++. This program helps making first-person
shooters a piece of cake since it provides you with all the elements you
need. If you're looking for the quicklink to download the trial version,

3D
Gamestudio is a game creation program produced by conitec that allows
you to make your own game in a 3D or 2D world. The actual program itself
is made up of two sub-elements, a level editor, and a model editor. The
level editor works similar to Worldcraft or any similar program. You basically
build a level or 'world' out of polygons, and then paste textures on them.
After pasting the textures, you can simply add details, or whatever your
mind desires. While it may sound easy, it's a lot more work than it seems.
When placing polygons, you must pick a shape. Then you must drag the shape
out to the size you want, select the right textures to use, and then place
entities, monsters, models, sprites, or whatever the level needs. I must
warn you that if you are just learning how to make games, it's going to
take a while to make one in 3D Gamestudio. Personally, I don't think 3D
Gamestudio is a beginner's tool, but rather an intermediate to advanced
programmer's tool.
It
is possible to make very realistic worlds and towns. As you can see on
the right, that's a picture of a few houses on a road. So just about anything
is possible with the level editor, as long as you can dedicate your work
for many hours a day. The other sub-element of 3D Gamestudio is the model
editor. The model editor is very similar to Milkshape 3D since you can
create vehicles, characters, objects, or enemies in the editor. Although
the editor has many options, you probably won't understand half of them.
There are many complex terms in the mathematics department and you have
to understand what vertexes are and must be very patient. Designing the
face of a character can be a very tedious process. As I said before, 3D
Gamestudio is not recommended for use if you're just learning how to create
games. Also, many people who make games may have their own programming
staff since quality 3D games can take quite some time to develop. Regardless,
3D Gamestudio provides the right options to make your own game. Please
note that if you want to make a decent game, you're going to have to learn
or at least borrow some C++ scripts. Yes, programming is one of the necessities
in 3D Gamestudio for adding AI, special effects, routes, and anything
you see in modern 3D games. I definately wouldn't recommend you use this
until you have a basic idea of how game creation/programming works.
Alright,
so you probably want to download this program by now, right? Well, unfortunately,
3D Gamestudio is not free. You can download a trial version of the program
and there are plenty of updates, resources, and support at their website.
If you plan on buying this program, it only costs $50 for the standard
version. There are plenty of other editions which are designed specifically
for your use. The future of gaming can be in your hands.
