"Collecting Vs. Playing: The Epic Duel"

Quite often, I can get into a huge debate with someone about video games. You see, the objective of a video game is to entertain a player or players by playing the game on a television screen. Now obviously, classic video games are also highly sought after collectors' items. You'll often see buyers paying top-of-the-line prices just to get their hands on an old sealed Nintendo game. The big debate is whether or not people should collect games or just play them.

Personally, I believe we should collect video games. As a young boy, I use to play games all the time. However, as I aged, I realized video games became more of a hobby rather than for fun. You see, in the current market, some games can go for crazy amounts of money. Because of this, you have video game collectors like myself who'll go around and try to get the rarest games for the cheapest prices. Obviously, it can be fun building up a huge collection, but at the same time, many people will insult you for doing so.

A few days ago, a friend of mine got really "pissed" because I believed my video games were purely for a collection rather than actually playing them. This is the problem with many gamers. You have these hardcore idealists who believe that you should play the game at all costs for "fun", while there are others like myself who build up games to make an impressive, and worthy collection. The advantage of building up a collection is the self esteem build-up inside. You feel great when you know that you have 75 games that are rare, or classics in the eyes of many gamers. Then, you can go around and brag and do whatever you want with it. If worst comes to worst, you can sell them to make ends meet and be very content.

Playing on the other hand can be a much more pleasureable experience. If the point of a game is to play it, then perhaps you should. However, by playing a game, you not only waste time in life, but you accomplish nothing (except entertaining yourself). The point I'm trying to get across is that video games are a highly sought after item. While games are very fun to play, and I do play some NES games, others are meant to be merely used as products for profit. For example, let's say you had a copy of Bubble Bath Babes, you're not going to play it all the time (unless you're some horny freak). Simply put, there's a huge difference between collecting video games, and actually playing them. I'd recommend that you collect games, but if you're mind differs, then go rev up that NES and kick some rudy pudy candy ass.
