AUGUST 2002

No, I'm not Dead - 08/23/02 - 8:00 PM EST

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to update on the daily basis like I was once. School's about to start, and this means all my time is pretty much gone. Don't worry, I will be updating at least two times a week. In other news, there's no new sections today, however, I have two new projects that you will find very helpful.

The updated NES Rarity Guide is 1/2 of the way done. I'm trying to get it finished for an August 26th release date. I'm also starting a new N64 Rarity Guide, this will be the first of its kind, so you collectors out there will hopefully enjoy. I probably won't update the polls, or other surveys for a little while.

More the Merrier - 08/20/02 - 7:16 PM EST

Alright. Today, I finished the Others section for now. There will definitely be more game makers added there once I find more decent ones. I also made the Amateur vs. Pro section. It's basically a sum up of how to tell the difference between a game made by an amateur programmer and professional. If you need some tips on how to improve your own homemade games, check that section out. Oh, and I uploaded the Useful Programs section. If your computer has been formatted before, then you know how it's a pain to download all the programs you once had. Well, the programs in that section are ones you should definitely get based on your needs. I'm still going to add more programs to that section since I noticed I was missing a few.

In NES related news, I'm going to work on the Accessories section tomorrow. I see a lot of people talking about if such and such accessory is rare, well, you can find out tomorrow. Oh, and I'm going to start working on the NES Rarity Guide as you read this. Stay tuned.

Sweet Sixteen - 08/19/02 - 11:30 PM EST

Well, for most of the day, I was out at the Outback and I watched a movie. However, I did do some work on the NES Rarity Guide. I got about 30 games done today, and I also turned sixteen. Woohoo!

Anyway, I posted a movie review on Collateral Damage, and personally, I thought it sucked arse. It's very surprising that a movie with such a budget, turned out to be a pile of mushed pudding. I also uploaded the Others section under the Game Makers category. There's only six game makers there, but I'll finish the rest of it tomorrow. I'm almost positive there will be at least three new sections, and more progress on the Updated NES Rarity guide tomorrow. Until then, watch out for the rain.

Contributions - 08/18/02 - 11:11 PM EST (Heh)

To start off, I got about 80 or so games done today on my updated NES Rarity Guide. It may not seem like a lot, but it sure took well over three hours of work. Aside from the periodic break to watch a Chris Farley movie, I'm expecting it to be done sometime during this upcoming weekend. I'm trying my best to make it perfect, but your location and other factors are the reason why certain games are easier to find in your area. Anywho, we got two contributions today.

We got two new contributed movie reviews. The first one is about The Real World Movie: The Lost Season and it was written by Nintendoh. It's very detailed about the storyline so expect some spoilers. Also, twitch submitted his personal review on Rollerball. He gives a very good reason as to why the movie sucked. I'd recommend you check out both movie reviews. Unfortunately, since I was working on the guide all day, I wasn't able to write up anything myself. But tomorrow will be a treat. My birthday is tomorrow so expect a huge update. Anyway, happy trails.

Lists & Scenes - 08/17/02 - 8:18 PM EST

The big update I'm talking about will occur when I finish an updated NES Rarity List. Yup, I'm currently working on a new and updated NES Rarity List that many people should use. It will be updated to the 2002 standards including many games that should be rarer than they should be. There is also a few games I'm going to add to his list that he missed. If you're curious on the progress of it, just e-mail me. So far, I have about 50 games done so far. It's not much, but it's a start. By the way, I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me some input as to what games are rarer and others that shouldn't be.

In other news, I added a new section to the NES category called Compatibility Lists. Basically, it's a list of what games are compatible to certain devices or special modes. Some of the lists are 100% complete, while others may be missing a few games. I also added the Best Scenes section under the Movies category. So far, I only have five good action scenes up there, but you should check them out if you're a fan of action movies. Don't worry, I have a lot more planned for the NES, game creators, and useful things.

EBAY Rules - 08/16/02 - 9:45 PM EST

Sorry, no NES updates today. Unfortunately, I've been working on the special rare list and a list of rare accessories, so I've been unable to update the collector's section. Don't worry though, the huge update is coming tomorrow. I did however make a new section dedicated to helping my fellow EBAYers. If you've used EBAY before, or want to know some tips/tricks, check out the new EBAY tips section.

There's also a new personal vendetta I added to the Clone vs. Clone section. It's between Nintendoh (who lost his previous round) and Cannan. Both of them hate each other's guts and I decided it's best that both of them compete to the death. So, I'd appreciate that you go to the Nintendoh vs. Cannan matchup and vote for whoever you think the bigger jackass is.

A lot of people are interested in the NES collection section, so I'll try improving that in the meantime.

NES Collector's Dream - 08/15/02 - 6:53 PM EST

One of the key things that many people visit NES sites for is about collecting. Yes, NES collecting is a hobby and I decided to make a section dedicated to it since many people have collections of their own. Check out the new section dedicated to NES Collecting. Right now, there's a fairly good amount of information there that any collector should read. I'm working on that collection rater, and a rare-games only list to add to that section soon. Please note, the collection rater will only work for the games in your collection, it will not rate anything hardware related for the NES.

There's also a new article entitled, "Why we should incorporate physical activities in video games" - Yup, it's kind of short but it gets to the point. I added two more shows, Seinfeld and The Shield, to the Cable shows section. Hope you like the update. I've got a lot more planned tomorrow.

You lookin' good - 08/14/02 - 2:55 PM EST

I was surprisingly able to do a lot today. For some unfortunate reason, I lost my entire Yard Sailing article. I probably will rewrite it sometime but I just didn't have the motivation to do so. Instead, I wrote two new articles to replace it. One is entitled, "The Dishonest Gamer", which talks about certain methods of how collectors/gamers con the stores. The other article is more of a humorous one - "You know you're a zapper fanatic when..." is an article specifically dedicated to zapper fanatics. It has various things most fanatics do and you should definately read it. In fact, I was hoping you guys could come up with a few, I spent about a half-hour coming up with more than thirty reasons and my brain was just about fried.

In related news, we have an official destroyer of Tengen Tetris. Yup, Jimbo the Hick is the winner. Who would've ever thought the cheap alternative would be hired by millionaires like Nintendo? Oh, and I made the Weekly Poll Archived Results. Basically, it's just a compilation of the previous polls and the actual results. Oh and there was a tie between Mario and Cloud/Sepiroth on the weekly poll. So there's a high chance that it'll be Mario, Link, Cloud, and Sepiroth in the final four.

Phillies! - 08/13/02 - 10:20 AM EST

Trying to stay on pace, I uploaded the Clickteam section. Clickteam is a company that develops many game creation tools, so you should check them out under the Game Makers category. Since I'm a big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, I decided to upload a section after them. Right now, there's only character profiles, but there's a profile for just about every player on the team with my personal opinion of each. Hopefully, if you're a baseball fan, you'll be willing to check out the Phillies section.

I got a lot of feedback about my Perfect Collection, and I made some changes to it. Some people complained that there weren't enough games to make it a perfect collection, but some of the games that they were suggesting I add were too rare to be found. For example, not everyone can go out and buy Bubble Bobble 2. So I'm trying to limit the list to enough games to make it perfect. There were a few flaws that I fixed in the list and I actually removed a game or two. Thanks for the input. I also added descriptions for the sites in the links section. Please, just click on the topsite button on the lower left hand side that's right under the affliates. It'd help me out a lot.

Perfection - 08/12/02 - 2:58 AM EST

Unfortunately, I was tired for most of the day, so I didn't update yesterday. However, staying true to my word, I was able to write another helpful article, "The Perfect Collection" - The perfect collection is a list of games in my opinion that can make the supreme 10/10 rating. I'd recommend you check it out in case you have questions about what must-have games you should get.

I also created the Cable Shows section. There's only two shows up so far, Monk and The Dead Zone, but they're both awesome which is why I'd recommend you check them out also. We have a new affliate, NES Chedda, which is a purely awesome site. Great stuff if you're looking for the unique side of the NES. In my spare time, I created another Link to Us button which may or may not look better. If you do link to my site, at least you can pick now. I also have a topsite under the affliates I was hoping you could vote for. Any vote would help my site at the moment. Please favorite place my site, I've noticed the visitor count has been going down recently. Until then, I hope to make an even bigger update tomorrow.

Stupid Yard Sales- 08/10/02 - 5:08 PM EST

This is a late update since I went yard sailing this morning. My results were absolutely nothing, and because of this, I wrote an article entitled, "Yard Sailing: An Irritating Experience". I mainly discuss the bad things about yard sales and why they're so bad. I also updated the site sections with some new text and I added songs to the Downloads section. I fixed the links to the songs.

I added a time next to each heading so you know when I updated. This way, you can tell when the last update exactly was. I'm also planning on writing up a list of "must-have" games that can complete NES collections. I often see posts about people asking what games they are missing from their collection. So hopefully I can sum that up in one article.

In case you haven't noticed, smackdown GT has come up with a system of rating your NES collection. It's pretty innovative but it has some bugs that need to be quirked out. I'm thinking of making one myself, but a bit more complex. If I ever do plan on making one, it will probably need some input submitted from NES loyalists like you. So if you're willing to help, submit your collection to me (games, systems, accessories, everything) so I can test out a beta system.

Many Contributions - 08/09/02

Thanks to kilroy989, we now have three more ways on how to increase the rarity of SMB/DH carts. They're very funny so you should check them out in the Rarity Conspirators section. We also have a new movie review on The Rock, thanks to Mark.

Please note, you can submit anything to me if you wish. If it's decent for the site content, then I'll add it and give you full credit. I'm also planning on making a Contributor Recognition page so everyone gets their own dedication for what they submit to the site. Since the site is getting more popular, I will probably add a forum in a couple days.

Don't forget about the official Tengen Destroyer matchup, there's plenty of suspects to choose from. Until then, enjoy the update.

Rarity Conspirators - 08/08/02

To start off, I created the Rarity Conspirators section. It's pretty neat since it explains the ideas of how we can make the common games rare. Although we only have two ideas so far, plenty more are to be added. I nearly forgot about the Clone vs. Clone section and updated it. In case you were wondering, the results are posted for the FlowingMindspin vs. Nintendoh arguement. FlowingMindspin won over Nintendoh by quite a large margin. I also updated the Cleaning/Repairing section with a method I have been using for many weeks now. It's the simple but effective Q-Tip/Rubbing Alcohol method.

I compiled the news archive for July 2002. You can check all the previous updates there. I suppose there's no need for any Forums until I get people who want them. Due to a friendly comment, I changed the links' colors since people with light-contrasting monitors may have had trouble reading them. Until then, enjoy the world.

Tengen Destroyer - 08/07/02

Today we have a new article up. It's entitled, "The Official Destroyer of Tengen Tetris" , and it has another user-interactive poll. Basically, there is a list of possible suspects as to who officially destroys the Tengen Tetris carts. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out the section because it has an introduction to the situation. Make sure to vote in the poll on that page.

There's also a new weekly poll and I replaced the counter with one that actually has stats. I'm planning on making a Rarity Conspirators section which will cover the mad plots and ideas of NES collectors out there. It should be up by tomorrow. That section will take place of the Game Shrines section since there is a game shrines section on just about every NES site which is too bland for me. Until then, TFC!

First NES Game Review - 08/06/02

Let's see, I wrote my first official review on Ikari Warriors. The game is somewhat below average, but it's a good start for a first review. I also created a section on the game creation program, Game Maker. It's one of the easiest to use tools if you're learning to make games. Plus, there's a link to the official site as to where you can download it.

I also did a few appearance changes to the site. I added a few games in the My Collections section and I'm planning on doing plenty of updates tomorrow. There is plenty of space for affliates in case you're interested (how many times have I asked that). Oh, and I replaced the Shrines category with Useful. Thus, you can expect to see Useful things on this site too. So if you want to make any of your own websites, or find out some interesting things, stay tuned to the site.

SlamBall! - 08/05/02

I was able to complete the SlamBall section for the site. It's located under the Sports category. In case you didn't know, SlamBall is one of the newest sports out there that introduces trampolines, basketball, and full contact. Right now, it only provides an introduction/overview of the sport. I am planning on making a more detailed section with the standings, rules, etc...

Oh, and we added a new site in the Links section. The NES Phone is yet another wacky site about the NES that was made through the efforts of combined staff members. You should check it out, it's pretty funny...just make sure you're ready for some Panesian Pr0n. Oh, and I also happened to find eight more rare NES games.

More Movie Reviews - 08/04/02

Well, I managed to upload two movie reviews, Halloween Resurrection and Resident Evil. I also watched the premiere of the new sport, SlamBall, on TNN and I'm planning on making a section for it on tomorrow's update. You really have to watch SlamBall, I think it could be the dawning of a new and exciting sport. Trust me, it's not like the stupid XFL.

I also got nine new NES games over the weeke
