I'm sure many
of us watch cable shows in our spare time. Often, when there isn't a good
movie on, you may watch one of those sappy dramas or a comedy when you're
in a giddy mood. The great thing about Cable is that it offers you many
more channels than the local ones and allows you to watch some of the
premiere shows that are aired. Below, I'm going to talk about a few shows
I often watch that I think are worth your viewing.
Monk
Monk
is definately one of the best cable shows I've seen in quite some time.
The story starts out with Adrian Monk, a genius detective in the San Francisco
PD that had a unique ability of solving most cases. After building up
a reputation for being a detective, his wife is suddenly murdered in an
unsolved case. With the death of his wife, he becomes an obsessive-compulsive
personality which means he fears mostly everything including germs, crowds,
heights, and even milk. Unfortunately, his disorder doesn't allow him
to stay as a detective in the SFPD and ever since the four years his wife
was murdered, he has been trying to get his job back. The actual show
is great since Tony Schalube plays an excellent part by having a phobia
for just about everything. There's plenty of comedy in the show and weird
cases that Monk solves along the way. This show was premiered by USA and
you can find more information at their official
site.

The Dead
Zone
Ahh
yes, yet another excellent show that was premiered by USA. The Dead Zone
is actually a show based off of a Stephen King novel, so you know it has
to be good. The story starts off with John Smith, a high school teacher
who's life was perfect. He had a girlfriend, and a child that was about
to be born. Then, he got into a fatal accident and went into a coma for
six years. When he awoke from his coma, his wife was married to the town
sheriff and his son didn't know who he was. However, he posessed a unique
ability of being able to see the past and the future through visions when
he touched someone. Any object or thing would make him see a vision, and
using this power he is able to change fate. I love this show since they
have lots of mysteries that get solved through the vision with decent
scenarios. It may get a bit over dramatized with emotions in many scenes,
but it's still a great show. Want to find more information about this
show? Check out the official
site.

Seinfeld
Seinfeld
has to be one of the best comedy shows I've ever seen during my life.
About seven years ago, I use to watch it every evening after school and
it was funny. Not only was it the base reason for Jerry Seinfeld becoming
a celebrity, but the acting was just hilarious in this show. Each episode
had a humourous plot that was too funny to pass. There's well over 100
episodes of this show and you can probably find it on one of your local
cable stations showing it on a daily basis. The entire show is based around
a comedian's life, Jerry Seinfeld, who himself and his three friends have
various conflicts throughout the show. There's plenty of jokes, hilarious
plots, and even some adult-based jokes. The best thing about the show
is that the acting is superb. Even though the show is based around Jerry,
his three friends, George, Kramer, and Elane play an important part in
the show. Jerry is an actual comedian. George works for Steinbrenner at
Yankee stadium. Elane works for various people including an adventuring
Mr. Peterman. And finally, there's Kramer who gets mixed up in all sorts
of trouble. To this day, I still haven't met anyone who didn't like the
show Seinfeld. Unfortunately, Seinfeld did their season finale a few years
back after running for several years.

The Shield
Believe
it or not, this show made the most emmy nominations for an original cable
drama show. It definately earned it. The Shield was a weekly show that
premiered Monday nights at 10PM EST on FX. The actual story follows the
life Det. Mac Vickey, who is a twisted cop that makes exchanges with drug
dealers in order for arrests. He gets criminals off the streets in exchange
for protecting the drug dealers from his fellow cops. While the storyline
may seem a bit out of line, the show is very dramatic. The show itself
is very violent, and isn't recommended for anyone under 18 (oops). There's
nudity, gun shootouts, violence, curses, drugs, and just about everything
you'd imagine. It's sort of like NYPD blue, but taken to the next notch.
There is even parents who want this show banned from the air due to all
the violence. FX does place a warning before airing the show though. If
you want to find out more about The Shield, check out the official
site.
