Welcome to the memorabilia of the NES. Here you will find certain items or things I have discovered or personally own. Some items may be unique souvenirs of Nintendo, while others may just be odd and undiscovered artifacts of the past.

The Mysterious Legend of Zelda Raincoat

Something I wore as a child...At first, you're probably thinking what the heck, a Zelda raincoat. However, a few years back when the NES was at its supreme, I guess Nintendo decided to make a few clothes modeled after their games. The Legend of Zelda raincoat happens to be one of their crazy memorabilia items.

The strange thing is that I rediscovered this item when I went in my closet a few months ago. I was trying to see if I could find some baseball card holders and I ended up discovering it on my coat rack. So I examined it, there were no tears or rips. And then, I remembered that I got it somehow around Kindergarten. Back then, I use to be a huge Legend of Zelda fan (and I still am). I suppose that's why I got it when I was only five years old. And now, when I bring it out of the closet, it brings back memories. Anyway (aside from the tearful story), this is an actual raincoat made out of vinyl.

The logo on the frontThe picture on the right is the actual logo on the jacket. As you can see, it's the picture from the title screen of the Legend of Zelda. Thus, I knew immediately that this had to be an official jacket. Most third-party or unofficial souvenirs often don't use graphics from the games themselves. Seeing that the jacket was in excellent condition, I decided to check out EBAY and see if I could find any prices on it. There were none of these items for sale at all. I'm not sure if selling clothes is a big thing on EBAY, but wouldn't you think that a rare souvenir would be for sale at least? Apparently, I haven't been able to find anything on the internet related to this raincoat or such.

The back pictureThis is another picture of the back of the raincoat. As you can see, it shows Link in the middle with his sword raised in the air. Then, there are several monsters surrounding him including a goblin, duel-wielding skeleton, and a three-headed dragon. If my memory serves me right, I believe the three-headed dragon is the boss from level 4. However, I examined the raincoat even closer and I discovered this:

Unfortunately, my camera didn't have the resolution to take the picture close enough, but it said:

© 1989 Nintendo of America Inc.

Thus, this must mean that the raincoat is an official product of Nintendo. If you know anything at all about the value or worth of this raincoat, please e-mail me.

Nintendo Scratch Cards

I was bored and searching through the GameFAQs boards when someone mentioned Nintendo Scratch Cards. So nonetheless, I did a little research, and voila, I found this. Nintendo Scratch Cards were a series made by Topps in 1989 by which they released 60 "Nintendo" based cards simply as collector's items. Supposedly, you would go in order by scratching the dots and if you got a certain number of attacks or hits, you would win or lose. Apparently, these cards were also included in the Nintendo cereal, but I can't confirm this. Somebody said that if you won one on one of these cards, you could send it in to get a free Nintendo game of that game. Of course, rumors are rumors so we'll never know.
